Effects of DIRFloortime¢ç Therapy Based on Cognitive Symbolic Play on Communication Functions in Children With High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders

Abstract

|
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of DIRFloortime ¢ç therapy based on cognition based symbolic play communication function of children with high autism spectrum disorder.
The subjects' general autism, overall intelligence, and communication skills were measured. As an intervention method, individual DIRFloortime ¢ç treatments based on symbolic play were performed. A group pretest posttest was designed similarly, and pretest and posttest was performed through U-test at significance level of .05.
After the test, the communication function, namely the structural and pragmatic language abilities, showed a significant difference (p<.05) for the post-test, and the social interaction function (p<.05) (p<.001) showed significant improvement.
DIRFloortime ¢ç therapy based on symbolic play has been effective in improving communication skills in children with high functioning autism
